Weekend of Home Improvements

Wow ... I had a busy weekend and a productive one. I feel good about that.

I went out Saturday and bought one of those closet organizer things from home depot. I started out just going to buy a closet rod and shelf to go all the way across the closet. The closet is eight foot. By the time I added up the expense for an 8ft rod and shelf and all the hardware to attach it, it was pretty close to the same amount as the oranizer (within a couple dollars). It has three four foot shelves with the space underneath each shelf to hang clothing, plus two other smaller sections ( about 1 ft wide each) for either hanging more clothes or using as storage shelves. For less than 29.00, it was a really good deal.

Now I know how those boxed furniture things always seem way easier than they are, so I asked one of the employees at Home Depot if there was anything else that I would need to buy aside from the kit to sucessfull install the organize. I didn't want to leave without something I needed. He said no. Everything I needed was in the box aside from a screwdriver and a drill (I have both of those). Man, he was so wrong. There were a half dozen things I needed and didn't buy on the first trip because I didn't realize I'd need them. I needed toggle bolts because of the type of wall I was connecting the shelving to. I also needed a level. A chalk line would have been helpful too but I made do with a straight edge and pencil. Then to top it all off, when I went to drill holes in the wall before installing the shelving, my drill bits had disappeared. I swear I had a whole set when I loaned my drill upstairs a couple months ago, but they were gone.

Between three trips to the hardware store and then having to charge up the drill for a few hours before I could use it, it's been an all weekend project. I did finally finish it a few hours after I got off work today though. Yay! I did call Daddy once to confirm I was using the toggle bolts correctly cause I've never used those, but otherwise I finished it by myslef even with the super confusing directions. I have to say, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for being able to do it without help. So now Steffie and I will have two functional closets for all of our regular clothes and fetish wear and other misc. storage stuff. The dolly mask will be hid away in the box somewhere facing the wall, behind a curtain or closet door ... somewhere where it won't creep me out with the weird sneer.

I also got my desk moved into the living room for Steffie to be able to use as an office desk when she moves in. I asked her about the it the other night cause I thought it would give her way more working room than the desk she has. If she hadn't wanted to use it, I was planning to just store it in the basement. Instead I moved it into the living room in the corner adjacent to the television and relocated the modem and vonage system to the desktop (no more jumble of cords and wires trailed across my living room! *double yay*). I wonder if Steffie would let me use her desk as a sewing table when she gets it moved up. There should be plenty of room for it in the extra bedroom. It would be nice size for that if she doesn't mind, and it wouldn't vibrate while I sew like my glass top table.

I still have to move some more stuff around, and get some of the stuff from the spare bedroom moved downstairs, but it's pretty much done. I feel accomplished. It's been a good weekend.

Weekend of R & R

Well ... maybe not total rest and relaxation, but close.

Steffie came into town on Friday night, and I was sooo happy to see her. I can't wait for the second weekend in May to get here! No more sending her home at the end of the weekend or getting in my car to make the drive back to Minnesota from Iowa. It will be a happy happy day.

We didn't plan anything at all for Saturday. Woo Hoo! We slept in (well, what amouts to sleeping in for me on my weird sleeping schedule), and then we snuggled in bed a while before getting up. Steffie made a yummy breakfast of chorizo, black beans, onions, and rotel with baked tater tots. It was so good! We watched movies and just relaxed all day. It was so nice to not have to be anywhere or do anything specific. Just snuggling and hanging out and playing ... yeah I got Wow's and sounds I'd never heard before. *giggles delightedly* That is definitely a repeat.

And... oh, about 7:45, we thought we should probably cook supper. I made spicy grilled porkchops with butter and rosemary steamed vegetables and great northern beans. It was tasty too. Worthy of seconds. I like having Steffie here to cook for. I rarely ever really cook for myself. Enjoyed that.

We need more weekends like this past weekend ... at least one a month to just schedule as down time to recharge and just do nothing specific. I like those sorts of weekends, esp since they are so few and far between.

Sundays Should be Shared

Sunday afternoons/evenings should be shared with friends and family. Sundays growing up were always the days where we slept in til lunch and then went out to my grandmother's to spend the afternoon with all my aunts and uncles and cousins. We played and caught up on the week and made plans as a family before sharing the evening meal. It was out together day. It was our way as a family to stay close and connected.

Today I miss that. My younger cousin had a bridal shower today, and all of the family was there for her except me. We two have never been close, but she's family. It's an important event, and I missed it. I talked to my grandmother on Friday during the day, and I realized that I hadn't talked to her in about a month. That never use to happen. Granddaddy's birthday is next week too. It will be the second birthday without him. I worry about her. She's there in the house by herself all the time except when one of the family stops by or she goes to the doctor's office or something like that. I can only imagine she must get lonely. I miss them all this weekend more than normal.

And I hate coming home alone on the weekends I spend in Des Moines. I know it won't be too much longer, but I still don't like it. It just seems paricularly awful to have to do this weekend. I like my alone time. I need it on a basic level every now and then or I'll go crazy. But it's so nice to have someone to come home to. Even if you aren'ty in the same room or doing the same thing, it's nice knowing someone is around. I'm even alone in the whole house today. The neighbors are gone. It's too quiet, and I ran out of things to do very quickly.

Just felt like whining for a moment, and now I'm done. Nothing I can do to change things at the moment, so no use in whining too much about it. It feels good though for just a moment.

Weekend of Firsts

I had an awesome weekend except for it ending too soon! Eeeeks. I hate having to work on sundays when everyone else is off on Saturday and Sunday. It makes weekend plans difficult. Enough grumbling though ... cause I really didd have a fabulous Friday and Saturday in Des Moines.

I drove down to Des Moines on Thursday. I was planning a Thai dinner for Steffie and Cass, but that got changed around a bit. Raincheck for later. One of our friends is in the hospital and her husband needed someone to help watch the kids part of the time that he was at work. So, we went and babysat the three cutest little boys ever after Steffie got off work on Thursday. They are really good kids. Well mannered, pretty easily entertained, don't usually fight like brothers are want to do, and they ate the slightly crispied pizza without any complaints (poor Alex more licked the toppings off instead of really eating the pizza before Steffie went and got him a hot dog instead). It was good to see the boys and hang out with them a bit, and I'm super glad that their mom is getting better and should be home from the hospital this week.

Friday, I relaxed and hung out at Steffie's while her and Cass were at work. It was a lazy sort of day with nothing planned to do. It was nice, but it made me realize I so like having something to occupy myself with. There's only so much tv you can watch and emails to check. I don't see how people stay at home with no work to do. When I'm home on fridays I can usually occupy myself with cleaning or straightening or general odds and ends that need to get done, but not so much when you're visiting someone else. I was very very happy to see Steffie get home from work Friday afternoon. I like having her come home to me. It's so much nicer than coming home to an empty house everynight. We made rice crispy treats and packed our toybags and clothes, and then headed to the DADG party. Rae and Tanya were already there when we got there, and the party was already on it's way to getting started.

I had a ton of fun! Rae and Steffie and Tanya did a scene together that was fun to watch. At the same time, there were two other scenes going on too around the room that were very interesting to watch. One involved lighting flash cotton and oil with a violet wand (very cool to watch and scary), and the other was just an awesomely cute, playful topping scene. The top flogged the subbie with pompoms! Stuffed animals and ribbons and all sorts of fun toys were used. It gave me ideas for later use. *giggles*
w
I got to do two firsts myself Friday night too. Yay for both! The first one was a cutting scene that I've been wanting to do for a long time now. Cass did it for me. So pretty. She carved a flower design onto my shoulder. I already want more! It was stingy and burned a little, but it wasn't what I was thinking it might be. I've seen some of the more extreme carving on tv, but I had never seen it in person. It was more one step up from the feeling of a paper cut, but not nearly so annoying. The design turned out beautiful too. I love it! Thanks Cass. *hugs* My other first was topping in a real scene. Rae let me co-top her with Steffie. We had been talking about it for a while, but this is the first time it was able to work out schedule and time wise. It was so much fun! I was really nervous for multiple reasons. First, I've never thought of myself as someone who particularly liked hurting people and I wasn't sure if I could do it. Another was because, geez, there were a lot of people there watching too. But it worked out really well I think esp for a first try. I particularly like the paddles. The paddles make great sound when they make contact, and then Rae makes great sounds too. I was worried at first. It was way louder when I swung the paddle than I thought it would be, and she lefted up on her toes. My first thought was... ooops, I did something wrong... I hurt her! No! But then she giggled, so I felt better and didn't worry so much. I had FUN, and Steffie and Rae seem to have a good time too. I would say my first switching scene as a top worked out pretty well. I definitely want to do it again. I like this switch thing ... I have way more options. ;-D

Today was good too. Steffie and I slept in until about 9:30 or so and then snuggled all warm and comfy in bed and then well, snuggling leads to other stuff ... very fun stuff. Three weeks is too long to be away from eachother (vows not to do that again). Long, soapy, warm, fun, giggly shower too.

Then we were off to have yummy Chinese food with Rae and Tanya for lunch. The restaurant in Des Moines has hands down the best hot and sour soup ever! The Mongolian Beef was really tasty too. I've been there... two, maybe three times ... and I've never had anything that wasn't totally yummy. After lunch we went to the park and just basked in the sunshine and warmth for a bit. Found a nice, secluded spot with a picknic table on the edge of a woodsy area. It was really nice just to be able to enjoy being outside for a while after all the cold winter weather the last few months. It made me want to camp out and grill out and just lay a blanket down on the ground and nap in the sun.

We had to leave way too soon for me. Then it was back to Steffie's for a few last minute snuggles and watching the first bits of Sweeney Todd before I had to head home. About half way home, my headlights stopped working again. Arrgh!!! Doing the same thing it did a few months ago. I'm so annoyed. Something else to get fixed. Grrr Grrr Grrr. But even that can't make me label the weekend as anything but completely, totally, awesome. Thank you Cass and Tanya and Rae and Steffie for sharing a great weekend with me. I love my friends and my wonderful girlfriend. Spending time with them always makes me happy.

Weekend Recap

I had a great weekend/early week. I got to stay in Des Moines with Steffie from Thursday until today, and it was awesome. Thursday night I cooked her a meal that she seemed to enjoy verra much (see previous post). And then, friday, we stayed in after supper and played dress up. It was so much fun! I got to dress Steffie up in a long, pink maid uniform with a cute white apron, all in pvc. She was so pretty in it! She dressed me up too ... in her pvc nurse outfit complete with pvc stockings (drools over the stockings ... I want some!).

After we were all dressed up, we were snuggling on the couch and happened to see a commercial advertising a new malted milk ball shake from Sonic. We figured... well we're all dressed up... might as well go for a shake. So we went to Sonic and ordered milkshakes. It's close enough to Halloween that probably no one even noticed. I didn't really care though if they had. Then Steffie suggested we go to the bookstore, and I said sure even though I was thinking she meant something like Barnes and Noble instead of the adult bookstore. It was fun ... we got a mmmmm really good new toy. Yeah, I could see it becoming a favorite.
y
Then we went back home .... and I'm not gonna give details, but wow! Somewhere between the couch and the bed (I'm seriously betting the couch) I lost the stone in my nose ring. I had to go buy a new one saturday, and by last night it was once again in pieces! Think about that. *laughs*

We slept in on Saturday and then we went to dinner discussion. When Steffie introduced herself at the dinner, she said she was very satisfied and not looking. *smiles* That seemed to make everyone happy. The topic was the difference between an abusive relationship and an S&M relationship. That brought up some interesting conversation. We played a bit at the party, freaked out a newer guy when Steffie pulled out her big knife and started playing with it. Actually, I think it was my not remaining perfectly still that bothered him. But.... mmmmm... knife scraping down my back.... oh that was good!

I got to game on Sunday. I played a Rogue (here's where you laugh Rae) who couldn't find any of the traps and who ended up buried under a few feet of gold coins during the fight with the dragon. Then the dragon breathed fire and she was topped off by a layer of molten gold. She didnt die though! And they killed the dragon. Cass is a fun DM.

I got hired to do some data entry in Savage for a computer company. It's full time but short term. About five weeks. But at least it makes it where I won't miss a paycheck and I have a job while I look for something else after this one is done.

Another Wonderful Weekend

Okay, so I had another completely awesome weekend. :-D Thank you Steffie *huge hug and kiss*. You are great, and you suggested a perfect way to spend the weekend. It was just what I needed.

I had almost forgotten how nice it is to not have every minute of my day planned out two months in advance. No plans. Nowhere to be at any given time. It was great! I can't remember the last time the most pressing reason to get out of bed was the fact that I really had to go pee. *laughs* Sleeping in, lounging in bed all nice and warm and snuggly, watching tv and movies, making Steffie purr AND growl (that was lots of fun)... yeah it was a very good way to spend the weekend.

And we had the strangest and yet really yummy supper Saturday night. First we were feeling like chicken wings... but then pancakes sounded good too... and I was having a craving for a rootbeer fut loat. So, yeah... we so didn't decided between the three. Instead, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for our chicken wings, IHOP for our stack of pancakes (do you know how hard it is to order pancakes without any of the other stuff that comes with the meal?!), and rootbeer floats from A&W. It was yummy!

Congrats to Tanya for an awesome turnout at her housewarming get together. Delicious chili, *laughs* even the one that singed the tastebuds was yummy! *hugs* I'm super happy that everything went off without a hitch and that everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Thanks for inviting us over. *hugs*

And now, I'm off to bed. I'm super sleepy, and I have work tomorrow morning *pouts*.

P.S. Toes are good.

A Good Turn of Events

I get to write something good ... positive ... happy! *YAY* It's a much needed and welcome change from the last few posts. I just finished a lovely nap and I'm feeling refreshed and ready to write.

The apartment building finally agreed to let me pay a professional to come in and clean the carpet in an attempt to not have to replace it all. That's a very good thing. At least it gives me a chance, you know.

I got to go to the Renaissance Festival in Des Moines this past Saturday. It was cool. It's not as big as Shakopee, but this is only its second year. It's got a lot of growing for the future. They have a lot of interesting shops. My big purchases were some sticks of flavored honey for my tea at home and a bodice dagger that's actually a pair of scissors. Now I have a pretty pair of sewing scissors and a fest weapon. I thought that was cute. They didn't have a ton of shows (again ... it's a new fair), but the ones they did have for the kids were great. I wish MNRF had more childrens shows like the ones in Des Moines. Angela's kids definitely seemed to enjoy their day at the fair. I will definitely go back there again next year.

The dinner and discussion was really interesting this month on electrical play. Lot of really varied conversation going on about a lot of different things after the main discussion too. I didn't play, but that was perfectly okay. It was really nice to just relax and hang out and socialize some. Mmm ... foot rubs were nice too.

We also went with the boys to the science museum and that was fun too. We got to see a show on electricity while we were there. And play with LEGOS! *yay*

I had a great weekend for very different reasons too that I'm not gonna give details on because 1. it's not everyone's business and 2. I don't know if she'd want me to share with just anyone. (*pokes some of you for asking anyway*). Mmmmmm.... yeah, a REALLY good weekend.
